NP: Amber, thank you for being my first guest on Interview Sessions Pt:1.A: no, thank you! this is exciting.NP: So tell me, any plans or upcoming shows for your photos or you a quiet artist...A: more like the loud mouth with the camera in everyones face.
NP: What camera/ equiptment do you most often carry or use? any tips and tricks you could teach us?A: I carry around my old cannon and as much film that i can stuff in my purse. tip/trick: use film!NP: that being said, how do you feel about photoshop and other digital programs? Do you every use any?A: they're a gas. I used to use them religiously when I shot with my digital camera. using film I really dont find those programs necessary anymore.NP: Are there any specific photographers that inspire you. and what photographer do you see yourself in?A: I'm in love with helen levitt's effortlessness and the fresh laina briedis' colors and subject matter. I dont really see any specific photographer in me to be honest. perhaps a blind twelve year old girl playing with a camera for the first time.
NP: Are there any topics that you shoot for when photographing someone or something.... describe how you choose a "theme" for your photography.
A: I try to keep my photos as natural and simple looking as possible. as far as the subject matter goes I take pictures of whatever seems interesting enough to remember at that moment.If its premeditated, I usually just take pictures of pretty girls. they never fail.
NP: What about yourself? Would you consider yourself camera shy.. do you like being the person photographed rather then being the photographer?
A: im not a fan of being photographed for anything other than hoakey tourist photos. I'd much rather be the photographer.
NP: Most recently- Anything that has affected you so much that it affects how and when you photograph?A: the lazier I feel the less photos I take.
NP: What and Is there any photography equipment that you have on your list of purchases?A: I've been eyeing this old twin lens reflex camera from this shop down the street from my house for a while. I cant wait to get my hands on that gem.
