fhgdiht/.

it's 2:15 am and i can't sleep.
you know those nights where the creative juices are on speed in your brain?
so many many many thoughts and ideas that i want to jot down.
so many impulses to control.
the things i want to write down, I won't.
but still... it's all keeping me awake.

photo: awfully pretty day on sunday and these black horses where just there.
the photo is not the greatest quality, but that's ok.

Katherine Squier takes such emotional photos.
I don't think they all make sence,
but that's perfectly ok,
because it's what makes it all
beautiful.

hand.

Mano Del Desierto
( hand of the desert) is a sculpture of a giant hand in the middle of Atacama desert and is the work of the Chilean sculptor Mario Irarrázabal, built in the early 1980s. I can't stop staring at it. It's too astonishing.

I just thought of another one!
Happy Up Here by Royksopp.

p.s. bubbles.

I was thinking that if I were to ever make a mix tape for John Nesse, I would most definitely include "MY TURN" by
Basement Jaxx. listen. It reminds me of
fizzy, bottled soda pop.
No? awwwww,
it's there. Just listen.

inspired.

I watched this video and really woke up today. What a man. The passion he holds for something so small such as a soda. and the thing that really gets me, is that to him, every bottle he sells is special, and I can't tell you how much I LOVE that. It may be silly to some, but it's better to be passionate about something than nothing at all.

Being a small business owner, you sometimes get caught up in sales, management, marketing, etc etc. and FORGET the whole REASON behind it all. Why you started it in the first place.
I remember first creating this smoothie at my store with avocado, vanilla and green tea. I called it the green machine, because once the green tea kicked in..... it hyped you up. Now, being one of our best sellers at our store, I do get a little bit of the giggles when I'm reminded that "strange and distinct" sounding drink, is constantly being requested, and sometimes I even run out. I started the idea for a vegan-friendly smoothie shop because I believe in my product. Just like John Nesse of Galcos is about his soda.

I love the line John Nesse delivers and says" Customers come in and say I work all the time and i say to them: I don't work, I just play. I get to come into work and play all day long."

and isn't that how it should be? enjoying the things we do for a living?

This video inspired me once again, to WAKE UP and go back to the roots that started it all. My passion for healthy living, making people smile with something small and simple such as a soda or smoothie, experiencing new flavors and tastes, and most of all having a "job" that can simply be play.Depending on how you carry your attitude, I am reminded by John Nesse that you should love, adore, and have a passion for what you do for a living.

true story.

one time.
long ago.
Alec Soth Wrote me an email.
I think he read a post I wrote on his photography and how much I loved it.
he just simply said " you made my day today. Thank you"

No. No. THANK YOU.
I love and adore his photography with every fiber of my being.
and I saw a photo he had done a year ago today.
so I was reminded of this e-mail which now I can't find and no one will ever believe me.

on a happier note.

me: I hate it when people think that you can't relate to them just because we don't have children. They look at you like you're a dummy who'll never understand.
I understand.
I get it. it's different. but I get it.

Leslie: Hmm. yes. It's different. Don't THEY remember that they weren't always a parent?

me: exactly. They weren't always a parent. they were a normal, single person once upon a time. I hate how friends who have kids all the sudden make you feel like you can't be part of their special club.
"Sorry, I have a thing that I genetically created in my body, so unless you have one, you can't be part of my cool club. okay? "
so. silly.

me:please let me part of your club.

I wish we could live our lives in a more simple manner. Wearing high socks and dorky oversized glasses would be in style. kids could play on the park playground until nightfall and catching bugs would be more fun than playstation. and huge family dinners with no manners. Minus the chef. He gives me the heebie jeebies. let's take out the chef on that one.

halloween pics.

sorry! I almost forgot to share what we did for halloween.
It turned out to be such a fun and silly night. We spent alot of it with our family and our nieces & nephews who were so darling.
Derek( my husband) was a scary werewolf. I was Storm from X-MEN. We were at grandpa's house when we took these and he was being particularly silly that night. Gracie was Alice in wonderland and she decided to beat up the big bad wolf.
All in all, a good halloween.
